Summer Term 2019 Activities

FAB event dates for your diaries for the Summer Term

On Saturday 18th May Balfour will be participating in the Brighton Artists Open House festival. The school will be showcasing art created by our children across both sites. FAB will be selling cakes and drinks for you to enjoy while you visit. If you would like to help out serving refreshments, please sign up on the online sign up sheet: volunteersignup.org/LXLXB

For more information on the festival, check out their website: https://aoh.org.uk

Later on in the Summer term on Saturday 6th July is our annual Summer Fair – a massive fundraiser for FAB. We have lots of exciting activities, stalls, food and drinks for the whole family to enjoy. These events can’t be held without the significant help of our school community, so if you can help in the run up, set up, during the event or clearing away, make a note in your diary and the online sign up links will be available soon.

Spring Term Activities

We’re pleased to tell you about the Spring activities that FAB are involved in for this term.

First is the return of the Scholastic Book Fair from Friday 1st March until Thursday 7th March. As per previous events, it will be held at the KS2 site by the Year 6 Base. Last time we ran the fair, we took over £800 which resulted in £87 worth of books for the school. So come down and have a look at the range of discounted books for sale.

If you can spare the time to help volunteer at the book fair please sign up by following this link volunteersignup.org/PXDRK

Also this term, is our Spring Quiz Night on Friday 15th March raising funds to support Science Week later in the year.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held after school on Friday 29th March. Tickets for both these events can be bought online – check out the events posts on this site.

Christmas wishes from FAB

We’d like to thank everyone for their support during 2018 – to our lovely volunteers and to anyone who attended our events and participated in our other fundraising activities.  Come and join in and find out more at our committee meetings – first is on Tuesday 8th January in Yr 6 base, KS2.

We look forward to a fun packed 2019!

Christmas Fair update

Oh the weather tomorrow is frightful, but the fair will still be delightful….
So yes light rain expected tomorrow afternoon – but it’s the winds that are causing us hassle!! We can now ensure you the the whole fair will be inside in the warm!! I’m not sure how we have managed it… but it should all be fine! Sadly there will be no Christmas karaoke as something had to go… we will still have everything else, hot food, a full bar, candy floss and all the stalls. It maybe be slightly squishy in places but please come and help us raise money for the school!!

2 Sleeps until The Christmas fair!

With only 2 sleeps to the Christmas fair the FAB crew have been very busy and we’re getting excited!

The team are busy folding raffle and tombola tickets, collecting craft supplies, buying food and drinks, checking lists, adding in last minute volunteers (still need adult food and bar servers at various slots), prepping for the set up, and praying for good weather. 💪☀️🌤

You can buy your Grinch or Santa visit tickets online for £3.50 each at www.ticketor.com/friendsatbalfour – search for a 15min slot that suits you! Tickets can be bought online until 9pm on Friday 7th December, but also available on the day. 🎅🧟‍♂️

We can also confirm the delicious menu for Saturday too! 🌭🥘🍲🍔

8 sleeps till the Christmas Fair!

8 sleeps till the Christmas Fair! 😃

Thank you so much for all your generous donations for the tombolas 👍

Raffle tickets should be with you all now – cash/cheques and stubs (and any unused) into the FAB boxes by end of the day on Thursday 6th December, or return at the fair please. 💲

We’ve had a look at the sign up sheets for KS1 classes – some of the classes have smashed it with getting all slots filled…some still have more slots to be filled. If you can fit an hour in to help run a stall, please sign up. We don’t want to have to cancel stalls. 🎉

We’re still looking for adults to help with candyfloss stall, set up on Friday evening or Saturday morning and clearing away and can fit in more Year 5/6 children on stalls.

If you want to get involved, let us know at volunteers@friendatbalfour.org

Whitehawk Foodbank “12 Days of Christmas” collection

We are delighted to announce that we will be supporting the Whitehawk Foodbank’s Christmas Donation campaign again this year.
The foodbank provides essential support to families all over the Brighton area and our generosity is especially welcome in the run up to Christmas.

This year, the Foodbank are collecting items from 12 categories:

We’re asking for the children to bring in an item from this list on any day between Monday 3rd December and Friday 7th December.
They should deposit it in the foodbank crates at KS1 or KS2 offices. The items will be collected and delivered to the Foodbank by the school.
Hope you can support this!

Fireworks Update

Totting up the money we reckon we possibly may have just broken even or made a slight profit (we are still waiting to finalise some expense totals)… but that is awesome considering the weather conditions we all had to endure but at the same time disappointing that the weather wrecked one our of major fundraising events – but at least we don’t think we lost money! There’s too many ‘buts’ in that sentence – but oh – well it’s been a long few days!!

I’m still being asked about how to give us some money… and I can’t fathom out why Paypal won’t accept payments – so if anyone wants to make a donation online then you can pay donations directly into our bank account… obviously this is completely voluntary and you’re own choice (and we are not begging) you can also pop cash or cheques into a FAB box. Please reference any donations as ‘donations’ so we can account for them – you can reference it as something funny if you want – maybe we’ll give a free drink to the best reference!?! I also swear that this is the FAB Bank Account details and not my personal one!!

Bank Account Details
HSBC Account Name: Friends At Balfour
Sort Code: 40-14-01
Account Number: 41501615
Reference: ‘Donation’ or something funny!

Cheers!

Paypal.me for Donations to FAB

Since last night and the truly biblical weather conditions we faced… we’ve had a number of people asking how they can make donations to FAB… We always gratefully accept donations into any FAB box throughout the year and if you want to pay us online then via Paypal is the simplest option. You can click on the link below and it should be pretty simple. Cheers everyone – we’re all feeling much loved this morning!! paypal.me/FriendsAtBalfour
